CALL FOR PAPERS
Black Politics
The Trotter Review is published in the only state to have an elected black governor at the same time the country has had a black president. Massachusetts is also the only state to reelect a black governor. Yet the city of Boston has never had a black mayor. Nor has the state ever sent a black representative to the US House of Representatives. The 2011 Trotter Review will focus on politics in Boston, Massachusetts, and United States in the era of Obama. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Assessments of Governor Deval Patrick’s first term and reelection victory, and his service to Boston’s black community; estimates of the prospects for a black mayor in Boston, inter-generational competition for elected offices representing the community, and patterns in black voter participation; and President Barack Obama’s style as a chief executive and political actor, and his prospects for reelection. The Trotter Institute is inviting papers on current black politics in Boston, Massachusetts, and the United States.
